Prof. Dr. Jobst Meyer (University of Trier) gave a lecture on "Soziobiologie - Implikationen und Konsequenzen eines Paradigmenwechsels in der Verhaltensforschung" on March 15th in the IAAEG Max-Weber-Room.
Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dieter Sadowski gave lectures on "Governance Configurations and Academic Outcomes: The Example of Ph.D Education" at the annual conference of the "Verein für Socialpolitik" on March 4th and at the international conference "Governance of Research" on March 11th. On March 12th he spoke about expierences with research groups at a conference of the German Research Foundation "Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft".
Prof. Dieter Sadowski has been appointed to the advisory board of the Academy of the Federal Employment Office for three years. Furthermore, he has become member of the Fondazione Guiseppe Pera in Lucca (Italy).

Congratulations: Maria Smirnova passed her doctoral examination on January 20th at the Université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonnet. Until 2007, she has been working at the IAAEG.

Dr. Daniel Dittert gave a lecture on "Das Vorabentscheidungsverfahren vor dem EuGH" on December 1st in the IAAEG Max-Weber-Room.
For his dissertation about "Allokation von Entscheidungsrechten im betrieblichen Vorschlagswesen - Bedingungen und Folgen der Dezentralisierung", Dr. Mihai Paunescu was awarded with the research prize of the Trier Chamber of Crafts. The award ceremony took place during the Dies Academicus of the University of Trier on November 25th.
RA Alexander Bergweiler gave a lecture on "Taktik bei Vertretungen von Betriebsrat und Arbeitgeber im Beschlussverfahren aus anwaltlicher Sicht" on November 17th in the IAAEG Max-Weber-Room.
Prof. Dr. Jens Beckert (Max-Planck-Institute for the Study of Societies) gave a lecture on "Wer spielt warum Lotto - und was lehrt uns das für eine Grundlegung der Wirtschaftssoziologie?" on November 9th in the IAAEG Max-Weber-Room.

Higher Education as a Competitive Market: Prof. Denton Marks (University of Wisconsin-Whitewater) gave a lecture on this subject on October 5th in the IAAEG Max-Weber-Room.
Congratulations: Daniel Heuermann passed his doctoral examination on July 21st. In 2006, he was awarded with a scholarship at the Graduate Centre "The Design of Efficient Labour Market Institutions in Europe".
The Effects of Cultural Diversity on Regional Labour Markets: Prof. Dr. Jens Südekum (University of Duisburg-Essen) gave a lecture on this subject on July 21st at the IAAEG.
Gefühltes und reales Arbeitsrecht - am Beispiel des Kündigungsschutzes: Prof. Dr. Ulrich Zachert (University of Hamburg) gave a lecture on this subject on July 20th at the IAAEG. Afterwards, he spoke about "Erfahrungen mit einem ,unbekannten Objekt’ – der Europäischen Aktiengesellschaft".
SASE 2009: At the annual meeting of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE), which took place in Paris from 16th till 18th July, the IAAEG was represented by three speakers: Vanessa Mertins gave a lecture on "An Experiment Studying the Effects of Procedural Judgements on Outcome Acceptance", Kai Kühne spoke about "A Comparison of Empirical Research on Co-determination and Public Discourse", and Peter Schneider presented his paper "The impact of New Public Management (NPM) instruments on PhD education".
Flexible Contracts and Subjective Well-Being: Prof. John S. Heywood (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) gave a lecture on this subject on July 16th at the IAAEG. Before, he had discussed some issues concerning the research projects of the IAAEG doctoral candidates with the doctoral candidtates themselves.
